Senior Engineer 

Description

 Scope:

Operates as a part of team of Engineers in the coordination of resources in order to ensure that the construction meets all contracted requirements in the most effective and efficient manner. Senior Project Engineers may be deployed on a number of projects at any time or be appointed to manage smaller projects.

Responsibilities:

A)   Assist the Project Manager in providing commercial and technical input for the contracts department at the estimation stage.

B)   Review all contract documentation to assess feasibility of construction, identify any potential areas of difficulty and take note of any variations required in the construction.

C)   Participate in the development and review of the project planning process and create a schedule, which is in line with the project requirements including establishing the sequence and duration of activities.

D)   Generate TDR (Technical Document Register) as a level 4 schedule and ensure that all relevant data required for construction is contained in it. Monitor the issue of drawings as per the forecast dates mentioned in the TDR, identify any discrepancies and bring it to the attention of the Lead Engineer. Take corrective actions wherever required in the case of missing data from either the client or vendor.

E)    Review Engineering drawings, documents and deliverables relating to area of functional responsibility to assess constructability and consistency with contract requirements. Prepare and issue purchase requests for materials and consumables.

F)    Prepare and review project specific and other procedures to ensure comprehensive cover of all project activities as per the contract requirements.

G)   Coordinate all project related activities with other departments and sections to ensure effective integration of tasks and minimize potential delays.

H)   Participate in the finalization of work to be outsourced to sub contractors including bid evaluation and terms of contract. Monitor the performance of the sub contractor once the contract has been awarded.

I)     Monitor the progress of the project as per the project plan and against the client’s requirements and take corrective action whenever required.

J)     Ensure the availability of necessary resources for the smooth execution of the project.

K)   Follow up with clients on approvals and instructions, attend client meetings and liaise with client on all issues of the project deliverables.

L)    Monitor and review the receipt of vendor deliverables including compliance with vendor specifications and ensure that all equipment is delivered within the procurement plan.

M)  Participate in the project activity report preparation and verify all data to ensure that it is accurate and accurately reflects the status of the project.

N)   Coordinate with relevant certification agencies for the endorsement of regulated activities.

O)   Participate in the preparation of all final documentation during the closure of the project.

P)    Participate in the formal review of the project post completion to identify areas for improvement.  

                Q)  Perform related duties as and when directed by Direct Supervisor

Requirements:

Engineering Degree with a minimum of 15 years experience in Project Management.
