Scope of Responsibilities

Mentor local National I&C Supervision and technicians on all aspects of Instrumentation and Control (I&C) Equipment Maintenance and HSE related issues on existing and future facilities.

Primary Duties

Assess and mentor on competency of I&C personnel and implement on-the-job and in-country training as required.

Assist in the development of I&C Preventative Maintenance Routines and track compliance to scheduled completion,Take part in audits, inspections and safety observation tours. Giving clear direction to overcome or design out I&C issues.

Ensure adherence to; and implementation of, Management of Change Procedure from inception to commissioning.

Provide direction on day to day I&C priorities to ROO National I&C Supervisors.

Apply solid engineering judgement at all times and ensure ROO’s current and future codes, procedures and standards are adhered to.

Periodically review I&C work permit effectiveness. Provide guidance to correct anomalies as required.

Investigation Team member for HSE incidents as required. 

Communicate I&C instructions on; and confirm full understanding to prevent repetition of Near Miss incidents.

Periodic reviews and revisions of Checklists pertaining to the position.

Consider needs and assist in engineering solutions to enhance maximum plant availability (de-bottlenecking) and integrity of equipment.

Seek improvement opportunities, liaising with Peer Group, Maintenance Delivery Managers, Water Flood Maintenance Manager, and Construction Supervisors. 

Provide operations support to shutdown teams pre / post activities.

Active involvement in commissioning after, or preventing plant trips, modifications or new plant post engineering is required.

The Instrument Advisor’s purpose is to provide guidance and mentoring to local teams on proper maintenance practices and Preventative Maintenance Strategies to improve plant reliability and performance. Support good planning and scheduling and prioritise corrective maintenance.

Liaise closely with the ROO Maintenance Delivery Manager and ROO National Managers.

Develops maintenance plans and CMMS best practices.

Promotes the adherence to an established Work Order Cycle.

Assist in the implementation of Maintenance Strategies at the station allotted. 

Provides external maintenance resources (service contract and material) to support normal and exceptional maintenance activities.

Manages and documents changes to maintenance scope, schedule, content, and deferral.

Performance coaching of Team & Individuals.

Assists in managing Team training & development.

Ensure that proper coordination between Operations, Projects and Maintenance occurs.

Demonstrate team performance to execute the work efficiently and safely through maintenance KPI’s.

Participate in audits, inspections and safety observation tours as directed by line manager or client.

Comply with client procedures and checklists to ensure all tasks are completed with full regard to Safety Health and Environment.

Understand and ensure that Sub-contractors comply with key safe systems of work such as but not limited to:

Recognition, Risk Assessment & Mitigation of hazards

Minimum Job Requirement:

10+ years’ supervisory experience in Petrochemical or Oil and Gas project/operations.

Bachelor’s Degree Hon. (or equivalent) in I&C Engineering.

Excellent communication skills; both oral and written, whilst exercising discretion is essential.

Flexibility to cover temporary projects e.g. shutdown and other roles as required.

Work to the highest personal and professional standard to achieve or exceed set objectives.

Show commitment to the team, and foster a team ethic by example, interpersonal skills, coaching and/or training.
