Organizational Context and Scope:
Working under the overall supervision of the Senior Resources Management Officer in Sana’a, Yemen and the direct
supervision of the Program Coordinator (Information Management and Technology) and in close coordination with the Global ITC Service Centre in Manila, the incumbent will be part of a team responsible for the maintenance of the IOM IT infrastructure of the mission. In particular, he/she will undertake the following tasks

Core Functions / Responsibilities:

  1. Provide support, troubleshooting and necessary maintenance of network and system devices including servers, switches, routers, and other relevant devices;
  2. Install and configure desktops, laptops, mobiles, printers, scanners and other IT hardware for end users in the mission;
  3. Provide general assistance in the configuration of servers and active LAN components including wireless devices and other security appliances;
  4. Provide tier-1 helpdesk support to all end users within the mission and those located in remote sites;
  5. Carry out the proper maintenance and upgrade of operating systems, as well as end user applications and software;
  6. Provide support to IOM’s corporate applications and other in-house developed software;
  7. Implement virus detection using Webroot through proactive monitoring, removal and prevention;
  8. Maintain a periodic inventory of all IT equipment used within the mission and its remote sites;
  9. Perform other related duties as required by his/her supervisor.

Required Qualifications and Experience
EDUCATION

  • University Degree in computer science, computer engineering or related discipline or an equivalent combination of Education and Training in database maintenance and upkeep.

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum Four Years Experience (Two Years for Degree Holders) in ICT related functions such as IT and/or Database Management, or a combination of study, training and professional work in a related field;
  • experience in networking environment (LAN/WAN);
  • Ability to work under pressure; ability to work independently;
  • Experience with Windows Server software in a multi-site environment, TCP/IP, MS Office, Antivirus Software and IT utilities. Experience with HP/Compaq, IBM and Cisco equipment.
  • preferably in the Humanitarian or Development Fields; Experience working in an International Organization.
  • Previous experience working in a similar capacity in the United Nations advantageous;
